In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, F Lalnunmawia of MNF won in this seat defeating K S Thanga of INC by a margin of 2,088 which was 12.01% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 43.47% in 2018 in this seat.
In 2013, K S Thanga of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Tawnluia of MNF by a margin of 667 votes which was 4.2% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 41.5% in the seat.
In the 2008 elections, K S Thanga of INC won this seat beating Tawnluia of MNF by a margin of 350 votes which was 2.5% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 37.74% in the seat.

Aizawl South - III comprises of the following areas of Aizawl district in the Aizwal region of Mizoram: Villages Hualngohmun, Thingdawl (melriat), Kelsih, Falkawn, muallungthu, Tachhip, Aibawk, Sateek, Phulpui, Khawhminglokawn, N lungsai, S maubuang, Thiak, Sumsuih, Hmuifang, lungsei, Samlukhai, Chamring, lamchhip, Chawilung, Sialsuk and Sailam in Aibawk R D Block; and Villages lungleng I, N lungleng Samtlang and Aizawl (Notified Town) – Wd No 37 - S Hlimen, Wd No 38 – melthum and Wd No 39 - Saikhamakawn in Tlangnuam R D Block.
