A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Umarga constituency, which are: Ausa, Nilanga, Akkalkot, Tuljapur. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Bidar and Kalaburagi districts of Karnataka.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Chougule Dnyanraj Dhondiram of SS won in this constituency beating Bhalerao Dattu Rohidas of INC by a margin of 25,137 votes which was 14.85% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Chougule Dnyanraj Dhondiram of SS was the winner in this seat beating Kisan Nagnath Kamble of INC by a margin of 20,442 votes which was 12.52% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Chougule Dnyanraj Dhondiram of SS won this seat defeating Dr Gaikwad Baburao Pandurang of INC by a margin of 10,332 votes which was 6.53% of the total votes polled for the seat.
