Demographic profile

There were a total of 3,82,754 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election in Solapur South Assembly constituency, of which 1,95,751 were male, 1,86,964 female and 39 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 3,10,524 registered voters, of which 1,64,377 were male, 1,46,136 female and 11 from the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,96,544 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,59,151 were male and 1,37,393 female. Solapur South comprises of the following areas of Solapur district in the Western region of Maharashtra: Solapur North Tehsil (Part) Revenue Circle- Tirhe, Shelga, Solapur (Municipal Corporation) (Part) -Ward No. 7 to 14, 40 to 43. 2. Solapur South Tehsil (Part) Revenue Circle - Hotgi, Mandrup, Vinchur.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 916.98 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 17°31'56.3"N 75°50'15.0"E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Solapur South constituency, which are: Akkalkot, Pandharpur, Mohol, Solapur City North. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Vijayapura district of Karnataka.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Deshmukh Subhash Sureshchandra of BJP won in this constituency beating Moulali Bashumiya Sayyed (Baba Mistri) of INC by a margin of 28,774 votes which was 17.70% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Deshmukh Subhash Sureshchandra of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Dilip Brahmdev Mane of INC by a margin of 27,123 votes which was 15.6% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Dilip Bramhadev Mane of INC won this seat defeating Patil Ratikant Shankareppa of SS by a margin of 17,662 votes which was 12.87% of the total votes polled for the seat.
