A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Sawantwadi constituency, which are: Kudal, Radhanagari, Chandgad,. This constituency shares an inter-state border with North Goa district of Goa and Belgavi district of Karnataka.

In 2014, Deepak Vasant Kesarkar of SS was the winner in this seat beating Teli Rajan Krishna of BJP by a margin of 41,192 votes which was 28.23% of the total votes polled in the constituency.
