This constituency covers an approximate area of 67.63 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 18°30'33.8"N 73°54'53.3"E.

A total of six Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Pune Cantonment constituency, which are: Parvati, Kasba Peth, Vadgaol Sheri, Shirur, Hadapsar, Purandar. This constituency shares an inter-state border with .

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Kamble Sunil Dnyandev of BJP won in this constituency beating Bagwe Ramesh Anandrao of INC by a margin of 4,971 votes which was 03.93% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Dilip Kamble of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Bagave Ramesh Anandrao of INC by a margin of 14,955 votes which was 10.84% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Bagwe Rameshanandrao of INC won this seat defeating Sadanand Krishna Shetty of SS by a margin of 37,325 votes which was 32.63% of the total votes polled for the seat.
