This constituency covers an approximate area of 4333.28 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 21°27'25.6"N 77°06'59.8"E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Melghat constituency, which are: Jalgaon Jamod, Akot, Daryapur, Achalpur. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Burhanpur, Khandwa and Betul districts of Madhya Pradesh.

In 2014, Bhilawekar Prabhdas Babulal of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Rajkumar Dayaram Patel of NCP by a margin of 1,979 votes which was 1.13% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Kale Kewalram Tulshiram of INC won this seat defeating Patel Rajkumar Dayaram of BJP by a margin of 710 votes which was 0.49% of the total votes polled for the seat.
