A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Amgaon constituency, which are: Gondiya, Tirora, Arjuni-Morgaon, Armori. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh and Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Korote Sahasram Maroti of INC won in this constituency beating Sanjay Hanwantrao Puram of BJP by a margin of 7,335 votes which was 04.00% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Puram Sanjay Hanwantrao of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Ramrtanbapu Bhartrajbapu Raut of INC by a margin of 18,295 votes which was 10.38% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Ramratanbapu Bharatbhapu Raut of INC won this seat defeating Taram Ramesh Narayan of BJP by a margin of 6,817 votes which was 4.46% of the total votes polled for the seat.
