A total of six Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Akkalkot constituency, which are: Solapur City Central, Solapur City North, Solapur South, Mohol, Tuljapur, Umarga. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Vijayapura and Kalaburagi districts of Karnataka.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Kalyanshetti Sachin Panchappa of BJP won in this constituency beating Siddharam Satlingappa Mhetre of INC by a margin of 36,484 votes which was 17.09% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Siddharam Satlingappa Mhetre of INC was the winner in this seat beating Patil Sidramappa Malakappa of BJP by a margin of 17,644 votes which was 8.29% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Patil Sidramappa Malkappa of BJP won this seat defeating Siddharam Satlingappa Mhetre of INC by a margin of 1,385 votes which was 0.71% of the total votes polled for the seat.
