Silli comprises of the following areas of Ranchi district in the South Jharkhand region of Jharkhand: Silli police station, Gram Panchayats Barwadag, Tati, Jonha, Kashidih, Merha, Ambajharia and Kontatoli in Angara police station in Ranchi Sadar sub-division; and Sonahatu police station in Khunti sub-division.

In 2014, Amit Kumar of JMM was the winner in this seat beating Sudesh Kumar Mahto of AJSU by a margin of 29,740 votes which was 20.77% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Sudesh Kumar Mahto of AJSU won this seat defeating Amit Kumar of JVM by a margin of 7,707 votes which was 6.58% of the total votes polled for the seat.
