This constituency covers an approximate area of 900.87 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°41'03.1"N 87°13'27.1"E.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Pradeep Yadav of JVM won in this constituency beating Gajadhar Singh of BJP by a margin of 13,597 votes which was 07.21% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Pradip Yadav of JVM was the winner in this seat beating Devendranath Singh of BJP by a margin of 11,158 votes which was 6.19% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Pradip Yadav of JVM won this seat defeating Suraj Mandal of JMM by a margin of 36,704 votes which was 26.35% of the total votes polled for the seat.
