In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Haji Hussain Ansari of JMM won in this constituency beating Raj Paliwar of BJP by a margin of 23,069 votes which was 10.05% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Raj Paliwar of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Hazi Hussain Ansari of JMM by a margin of 6,884 votes which was 3.46% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Hussain Ansari of JMM won this seat defeating Shiv Dutt Sharma of JVM by a margin of 20,468 votes which was 13.87% of the total votes polled for the seat.
