This constituency covers an approximate area of 1734.6 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 23°04'22.8"N 84°19'15.2"E.

In 2014, Shivshankar Oraon of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Bhushan Tirkey of JMM by a margin of 4,032 votes which was 3.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency.
