There were a total of 2,99,946 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election in Giridih Assembly constituency, of which 1,52,202 were male, 1,47,743 female and 1 of the third gender. Giridih comprises of the following areas of Giridih district in the North Jharkhand region of Jharkhand: Giridih Town Police Station and Giridih Mufassil police station (excluding Gram Panchayats Leda, Semaria, Badgunda, Palmo, Sathibad Senadoni, Dhanaidih, Guro, Jitpur, Telodih, Ranidih and Karharbari) and Pirtanr police station in Giridih Sadar sub-division.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 663.43 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°02'42.4"N 86°12'41.0"E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Giridih constituency, which are: Gandey, Dumri, Tundi. This constituency shares an inter-state border with .

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Sudivya Kumar of JMM won in this constituency beating Nirbhay Kumar Shahabadi of BJP by a margin of 15,884 votes which was 09.46% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Nirbhay Kumar Shahabadi of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Sudivya Kumar of JMM by a margin of 9,933 votes which was 6.63% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Nirbhay Kumar Shahabadi of JVM won this seat defeating Munna Lal of IND by a margin of 7,102 votes which was 6.48% of the total votes polled for the seat.
