This constituency covers an approximate area of 1942.84 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°18'39.6"N 83°58'58.8"E.

A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Daltonganj constituency, which are: Garhwa, Bishrampur, Chattarpur, Panki, Manika. This constituency shares an inter-state border with .

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Alok Kumar Chaurasiya of BJP won in this constituency beating Krishna Nand Tripathi of INC by a margin of 21,517 votes which was 09.87% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Alok Kr Chaurasiya of JVM was the winner in this seat beating Krishna Nand Tripathi of INC by a margin of 4,347 votes which was 2.19% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Krishna Nand Tripathi of INC won this seat defeating Dileep Singh Namdhari of BJP by a margin of 4,233 votes which was 2.88% of the total votes polled for the seat.
