Borio comprises of the following areas of Sahebganj district in the Santhal Parganas region of Jharkhand: Borio and Talihari police stations in Rajmahal sub-division; and Boarijor police station (excluding Gram Panchayats Rajabhita, Kero, Kairasol, Bara Telo and Barapipra) in Godda sub-division.
This constituency covers an approximate area of 1132.77 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 25°05'28.3"N 87°37'06.2"E.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Lobin Hembrom of JMM won in this constituency beating Surya Narayan Hansada of BJP by a margin of 17,924 votes which was 10.98% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Tala Marandi of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Lobin Hembrom of JMM by a margin of 712 votes which was 0.45% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Lobin Hembram of JMM won this seat defeating Tala Marandi of BJP by a margin of 9,040 votes which was 7.93% of the total votes polled for the seat.
