Bodra, Chandaneswar-I, Chandaneswar-II, Durgapur, Shanksahar and Tarda GPs of CDB Bhangar - I

This constituency covers an approximate area of 329 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Canning Purba is: 22°24'56.2"N 88°38'43.8"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 88.3%, while it was 87.74% in 2016, and 90.61% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Saokat Molla of TMC won in this constituency beating Gazi Shahabuddin Siraji of RSMPA by a margin of 53007 votes which was 23% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Saokat Molla of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Ajijer Rahaman Molla of CPIM by a margin of 55034 votes which was 28.44% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Abdur Razzak Molla of CPIM won this seat defeating Ibrahim Molya of INC by a margin of 21113 votes which was 13.47% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Saokat Molla of TMC had a vote share of 53.06% in this seat. In the 2016 Assembly elections, Saokat Molla of TMC got a vote share of 59.56% , In the 2011 Assembly elections, Abdur Razzak Molla of CPIM got a vote share of 54.3% in Canning Purba.
