This constituency covers an approximate area of 89 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Baruipur Paschim is: 22°20'00.2"N 88°26'27.6"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Biman Banerjee of TMC won in this constituency beating Debopam Chattopadhyaya (Babu) of BJP by a margin of 61910 votes which was 29.52% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Biman Banerjee of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Safiuddin Khan of CPIM by a margin of 36532 votes which was 20.01% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Biman Banerjee of TMC won this seat defeating Kanak Kanti Paria of CPIM by a margin of 31888 votes which was 20.81% of the total votes polled for the seat.
