In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Mukesh Mahaling of BJP won in this constituency beating Pradeep Kumar Behera of BJD by a margin of 13,668 votes which was 7.64% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Jogendra Behera of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Pandaba Chandra Kumbhar of INC by a margin of 22,854 votes which was 14.39% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Ramakanta Seth of BJD won this seat defeating Pandava Chandra Kumbhar of INC by a margin of 4,093 votes which was 2.84% of the total votes polled for the seat.
