In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik of BJD won in this constituency beating Dusmanta Kumar Swain of IND by a margin of 81,430 votes which was 60.51% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Anubhav Patnaik of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Soumya Ranjan Patnaik of AOP by a margin of 601 votes which was 0.46% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Siddharth Sekhar Singh of BJD won this seat defeating Soumya Ranjan Patnaik of INC by a margin of 16,814 votes which was 14.92% of the total votes polled for the seat.
