In 2014, Padmanabha Behera of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Ananda Barik of BJP by a margin of 31,290 votes which was 21.24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Padmanabh Behera of BJD won this seat defeating Binod Patra of INC by a margin of 21,401 votes which was 16.85% of the total votes polled for the seat.
