Assembly constituency no.281. Miraj comprises of the following areas of Sangli district in the Western region of Maharashtra: Miraj Tehsil (Part)-Revenue Circle Miraj, Malgaon Arag, Kavalapur and Sangli-Miraj Kupwad (Municipal Corporation) (Part) – Ward No. 4 to 9, 26 to 37, 54 to 60.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 669.86 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 16°50'56.0"N 74°45'04.3"E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Miraj constituency, which are: Shirol, Sangli, Tasgaon - Kavathe Mahankal,. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Belgavi district of Karnataka.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Dr Suresh (Bhau) Dagadu Khade of BJP won in this constituency beating Balaso Dattatray Honmore of SWP by a margin of 30,166 votes which was 16.77% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Khade Suresh(Bhau) Dagadu of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Shidheshwar Atamaram Jadhav of INC by a margin of 64,067 votes which was 34.52% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Khade Suresh (Bhau) Dagadu of BJP won this seat defeating Honmore Balaso Dattatrya of INC by a margin of 54,456 votes which was 31.61% of the total votes polled for the seat.
