A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Pakur constituency, which are: Barhait, Littipara, Maheshpur. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Murshidabad and Birbhum districts of West Bengal.

In 2014, Alamgir Alam of INC was the winner in this seat beating Akil Akhtar of JMM by a margin of 18,066 votes which was 7.68% of the total votes polled in the constituency.
