There were a total of 2,74,994 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Garthapuri Assembly election, of which 1,34,024 were male, 1,40,923 female and 47 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,65,258 registered voters, of which 1,34,024 were male, 1,35,557 female and 50 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,59,664 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,28,349 were male, 1,31,255 female and 60 of the third gender. In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Maddali Giridhara Rao of TDP won in this constituency beating Chandragiri Yesuratnam of YSRCP by a margin of 4,289 votes which was 2.46% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Modugula Venu Gopala Reddy of TDP was the winner in this seat beating Appi Reddy Lella of YSRCP by a margin of 17,913 votes which was 10.45% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Kanna Lakshminarayana of INC won this seat defeating Chukkapalli Ramesh of TDP by a margin of 3,301 votes which was 2.56% of the total votes polled for the seat.
