In 2014, Mekapati Goutham Reddy of YSRCP was the winner in this seat beating Guturu Murali Kanna Babu of TDP by a margin of 31,412 votes which was 19.18% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Anam Rama Narayana Reddy of INC won this seat defeating Kommi Lakshmaiah Naidu of TDP by a margin of 18,644 votes which was 12.59% of the total votes polled for the seat.
